RICHARD ATKINSON is a freelance Composer, Musical Director, and Pianist, working primarily in the field of theatre.
RICHARD is currently the Musical Director, and Associate Musical Supervisor for the UK Tour of SHREK – The Musical.
Other recent work as Musical Director includes SWEENEY TODD and SLEEPING BEAUTY at Buxton Opera House, and the UK tours of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT and HAIRSPRAY .
His most recent work as a composer includes The Emperor and the Nightingale and THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE at Theatre by the lake in Keswick, and COX & BOX – MRS BOUNCER’S LEGACY – a version of COX & BOX by Arthur Sullivan, with a new Act 2, written together with CHRIS MONKS, seen at the STEPHEN JOSEPH THEATRE, Scarborough, and on tour.
