Richard is a freelance Composer, Musical Director and Pianist / Keyboard Player. He studied composition at the University of Liverpool with James Wishart.

He has a long association with writer and director Chris Monks.

Compositions for the theatre include: The Emperor and the Nightingale, The Rivals, The Shepherd’s Life, Peter Pan, Rogue Herries, The Maid of Buttermere, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Strangers on a Train, Northanger Abbey, For All Time, The Blue Room, Tom’s Midnight Garden, Great Expectations, A Doll’s House, and The Glass Menagerie (Theatre By The Lake, Keswick); Cox & Box – Mrs Bouncer’s Legacy, and The Last Train To Scarborough (Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough); Strange Voyages – a youth opera, with a libretto by Chris Monks (Victoria Hall, Stoke-on Trent, and The Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough);  As You Like It (New Vic Theatre, Newcastle-under-Lyme); A Little Local Difficulty, and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Oldham Coliseum).

Richard is currently Chair of the Theatre Section Committee at the Musicians Union.

Richard lives in Leicestershire with his wife Rachel, and two sons, Ernie and Stanley. In addition to his love for music, he is also an avid supporter of Kettering Town Football club, and is currently Vice Chair of the Kettering Town “Poppies” Supporters Trust and  highlights editor for POPPIES TV – Kettering Town’s online TV channel.
