On Tuesday 5th January, there was a parliamentary debate on regional theatre in Westminster hall. Good news on the surface you may think, until you realise that not a single Labour MP attended – in fact very few MPs of any party attended.

Happy New year one and all! 2016 looks set to be an exciting year – starting with a few more dates on keyboards with BEYOND THE BARRICADE, and followed by THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE at Theatre by the lake, Keswick. Hope 2016 is a good year for everyone.
Theatre by the lake, in Keswick, today announced it’s 2016 season. This includes THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE, adapted and directed by Chris Monks, former Artistic Director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, which opens on Sat 26 March and runs until Sat 23 April, and for which I will be writing the music. Monks and Theatre by the Lake have staged a major coup in securing the rights to put on stage a book that topped The Sunday Times best-selling list and has garnered rave reviews. The production will feature puppet sheep and sheepdogs and a locally recruited community chorus of adults and young people.

I’m delighted to be joining the BEYOND THE BARRICADE team during December and January, covering the keyboard chair for the fabulous DAVID LANE, whilst he’s off in Panto land at the WOLVERHAMPTON GRAND!

I am delighted to announce that I will be writing the music for THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE, which will be performed at Theatre By The Lake, Keswick, from the 26th March to the 23rd April 2016.
The play is an adaptation of the best selling book by James Rebanks.
Rebanks is the Herdwick Shepherd, whose account of shepherding has a strong following on Twitter – @herdyshepherd1. His family have farmed in the same area for six hundred years.
Winning the rights to dramatise The Shepherd’s Life is a triumphant coup for Theatre by the Lake and the show will be adapted and directed by Chris Monks.
