The Government has announced that they will repeal the current National Insurance regulations in respect of entertainers, which is great news for Musicians working in the theatre.

Over the past 6 months, the M.U. have been trying to get HMRC and the government to change it’s policy of making self employed musicians and entertainers liable for class 1 N.I. contributions. Please follow this link to respond to the consultation document. You don’t have to be an M.U. member to do this, and it could make a huge difference.
