OPENING NIGHT!

The opening night of THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE at Theatre by the Lake is finally upon us. We had a very appreciative full house for our preview last night, and we’ll be making a few last minute tweaks throughout today.

I think the strangest thing about tonight will be having several people who feature in the play actually in the audience, including the Herdwick Shepherd himself, James Rebanks!

Best wishes to everyone involved, and here’s to a great first night.

THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE features on BBC Look North

THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE was featured on today’s BBC Look North programme. The item is about 19 minutes into the programme. Unfortunately it doesn’t feature any of my music (just stock music in the background), but it does give a good feel for the show, and a sneaky preview of the fantastic puppets by Jimmy Grimes.

PETITION AGAINST PARKING CHARGE RISE IN KESWICK

petitionThe battle against plans for a major hike in parking charges in Keswick hotted up today when a petition with 3,912 signatures was delivered to Allerdale Borough Council.
Rachel Swift, Head of Marketing, took the petition, organised by the theatre, Keswick Retailers Association and Lake District Hotels, to the council’s offices in Workington.
“The petition has been signed on line and on paper by a staggering number of people,” said Rachel. “When coupled with the 94 pages of comments that people have left when signing the petition – it’s a very clear sign of the anger people feel about these ill-thought out charges.
