Theatre by the lake announces 2016 season

TBTLTheatre by the lake, in Keswick, today announced it’s 2016 season. This includes THE SHEPHERD’S LIFE, adapted and directed by Chris Monks, former Artistic Director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, which opens on Sat 26 March and runs until Sat 23 April, and for which I will be writing the music. Monks and Theatre by the Lake have staged a major coup in securing the rights to put on stage a book that topped The Sunday Times best-selling list and has garnered rave reviews. The production will feature puppet sheep and sheepdogs and a locally recruited community chorus of adults and young people.

The play is an adaptation of the best selling book by James Rebanks.

Rebanks is the Herdwick Shepherd, whose account of shepherding has a strong following on Twitter – @herdyshepherd1. His family have farmed in the same area for six hundred years.

Winning the rights to dramatise The Shepherd’s Life is a triumphant coup for Theatre by the Lake and the show will be adapted and directed by Chris Monks.
